The short version
- We only collect what we need to send the right box to the right player.
- We never sell your information and never use it for advertising.
- No cookies, ads or tracking pixels on our website. We count visits ourselves, without cookies and without keeping anything that identifies you.
- Training tips and box news emails only if you tick the box. Unsubscribe anytime.
- Parents can see, change or delete their child's details whenever they like.
Who we are
The Match Day Club is run by Brendan Kelly, trading as The Match Day Club, 76 Manor Rd, Guildford GU2 9NQ. We're responsible for the personal information described here (the "controller" under UK data protection law).
Questions or requests: info@matchdayclub.co.uk.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist
- Your email address.
- Which page or link you signed up from (for example, our homepage or an Instagram link), and when.
When you order The Pro Box
Checkout is run by Stripe Checkout. For each order, Stripe collects your name, email, delivery address, phone number, the player's sock size, the player's first name, an optional gift note, and your card details. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us the details we need to pack and send the box: your name, email, delivery address, phone number, the sock size, the player's first name and any gift note, plus a record of the payment.
When you contact us
Whatever you include in your email, like a change of address or an allergy we should know about.
If a signup goes wrong
If our signup form fails to save, it logs the email address, the page, the error and your browser type, so we can find you and fix it.
What we don't collect
We don't ask for a player's surname, photo, school, club or date of birth, and there are no public profiles.
Cookies and your device
- Our website doesn't use cookies, advertising or tracking pixels.
- We count visits ourselves to see which pages get read and where visitors come from (for example, a search engine or one of our Instagram posts). For each page view we keep only the date, the page, the tags on the link that brought you (like "instagram") and the name of the site you came from. We don't use cookies, store anything on your device, or keep your IP address or any detail that could identify you. We keep these counts for about 13 months.
- Stripe's checkout page uses its own cookies to keep payments secure and prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Why we use it
| What for | Our legal reason |
|---|---|
| Sending your boxes, taking payments, sorting out problems | To carry out our contract with you |
| Choosing the right sock size and age-appropriate products and challenges | To carry out our contract with you |
| Order emails: confirmations, dispatch updates, changes to prices or terms | Our contract with you, and the law |
| Training tips and box news | Your consent. Only if you tick the box, and you can unsubscribe anytime |
| Telling you when we launch, if you joined the waitlist | Your consent, given when you joined |
| Recovering signups that failed, preventing fraud, knowing which of our posts and links bring people in | Our legitimate interests in running the business well |
| Keeping order and payment records | The law (tax and accounting rules) |
Young players
The Match Day Club is made for players aged 12 to 17, so we're extra careful.
- We collect the least we can about players, and only use it to put their box together.
- We never use players' information for advertising, never build profiles to target them, and never sell or share it for marketing.
- If a player is under 13, only a parent or guardian can sign them up for tips and news emails.
- Our emails are about training, recovery and the box. We won't pressure anyone to buy.
- Parents or guardians can ask to see, correct or delete their child's information at any time by emailing info@matchdayclub.co.uk.
Who we share it with
Only with the companies that help us run The Match Day Club, and only what they need:
- Stripe for payments and checkout.
- Supabase, which stores our waitlist and signup records.
- Microsoft for our email (Microsoft 365) and for hosting our website (Azure).
- Resend, which sends our automatic emails, like the welcome email when you join the waitlist and emails about your account.
- Royal Mail, our courier, which gets the name, delivery address and, if needed, phone number for each box so it can be delivered.
They can only use your information to provide their service to us. We'd also share information if the law required it, for example with HMRC.
Where it's stored
Our waitlist and signup records are stored by Supabase in the European Union (Ireland). The UK recognises the EU as giving the same level of protection as the UK.
Some of the other companies above, such as Stripe, Microsoft and Resend, may handle information in the United States or elsewhere. When that happens it's protected by approved safeguards, such as the UK-US Data Bridge or standard data protection contracts.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, or 2 years after you last heard from us, whichever comes first.
- Signups that were never paid for: deleted within 6 months.
- Order and player details: for 12 months after your order, in case you need help with it. After that they're deleted.
- Order and payment records: 6 years, because tax law requires it.
- Signup error logs: 90 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you (or your child)
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete it
- stop or limit how we use it, including for any legitimate interest above
- send it to you or another company in a usable format
You can also withdraw consent for emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us. Email info@matchdayclub.co.uk for anything here. It's free and we'll reply within one month.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll email customers too.
